Raffia is a natural fiber that comes from raffia palm trees, they grow in tropical regions of Africa, and especially Madagascar. Raffia fiber is also sustainably harvested which means that the plant isn’t harmed during harvesting.
Raffia fibers are very soft and pliable, yet incredibly strong, durable, and easy to manipulate! And it’s all thanks to the natural resin within the fibers that give it strength and longevity. This is also what sets it apart from regular straw, the regular straw doesn’t have any resin, which can cause it to get brittle over time and crack.
